What should I do before my peel?

To get the most out of your Vitalize Peel and for the maximum comfort we recommend that you avoid the following treatments:

One week prior to your peel avoid:

Electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, any exfoliating products, any products that may be drying or irritating, including products containing salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids including glycolic acid.

What can I expect during my peel?

Your technician will cleanse any area where the Vitalize Peel is to be applied with a prepping solution. This will be followed by a peeling solution in which some cases may be repeated. You may experience some mild tingling or warmth for 1-3 minutes. This discomfort can be easily relieved by the use of a hand fan.

Your technician may choose to apply Retinoic Acid at this time. When this is done a yellow tinge will appear on the skin, which will disappear within an hour of the procedure.

How long will this take?

From start to finish the entire procedure should take approximately 20 minutes.

What can I expect after my peel?

Most patients leave the medical office looking healthy and fresh. Any redness or discoloration can easily be covered with makeup and most activities can resume right away.

Within 48 hours you will notice a mild flaking, which can be controlled with moisturizers.

What should I do after my peel?

You may be more sensitive to sun exposure. Take extra precautions by using Vivier’s SPF 30 lotion or higher. We recommend limiting sun exposure for at least one week after your peel.

Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 to 3 days; the perspiration caused may irritate the skin.

When washing your face do not scrub. Use gentle cleanser such as Vivier’s Hexam Cleanser.

Avoid “helping” the skin peel. You can control the peeling with a light moisturizer such as Vivier’s oil free moisturizer or Lexxel redness relief cream.

Do not have any other facial treatment for at least one week after your peel. You may resume the regular use of Retin-A, alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) products or bleaching creams ONLY after the peeling process is complete.
